- Title
Predicting Acceptance of Electronic Medical Records: Is the Technology Acceptance Model Enough?
- Authors
Seeman, Elaine; Gibson, Shanan
- Abstract
The article presents a study on the adoption of the technology acceptance model (TAM) and the theory of planned behavior (TBP) in accepting electronic medical records (EMRs) for physicians. The TAM would help researchers know how and why individuals should accept or reject technology, and the TPB suggests that all behavior of the individual is motivated through the decisions and the intention of performing the behavior. The results from the conducted multiple regression analyses showed that TPB played a higher role in explaining the EMR acceptance over TAM. Future research could consider the impact of culture and other factors in technology adoption by physicians.
