- Abstract
The article reports that German car maker DaimlerChrysler AG will put 100 prototypes of its new Smart Fortwo plug-in all-electric cars to test on the streets of London, England by the end of 2007. Company officials said the cars will initially run off nickel hybrid batteries, but will switch to lithium ion as they become available. The official added that cars will have a range of 110 kilometers and take three-and-a-half hours to recharge. The company hopes to start commercial production by 2010.
