The article focuses on the functiuon of some lipid transport proteins (LTPs) as lipid sensors rather than transporters. The five superfamilies of LTPs which have important roles in vesicular trafficking, signalling and lipid metabolism, especially in phosphoinositide metabolism, is mentioned. It is inferred that some LTPs exchange one lipid for a second lipid, demonstrating that LTPs are more than simple transporters.
