When Treating Cancer, Please Don't Forget Hepatitis B.
- Authors
KING, LINDSAY Y.; CHUNG, RAYMOND T.
- Abstract
The article presents several case studies related to hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. These include a 71-year-old woman, a 51-year-old gentleman, and a 78-year-old woman. They all took an entecavir of specific milligram (mg) daily which normalizes their transferase levels. The article further cites that studies have been designed to evaluate the use of lamivudine, a nucleoside analog, for the prevention of reactivation during chemotherapy since HBV reactivation can lead to hepatic failure.
