- Abstract
Point-to-point secure telemedicine connected surgical consultation with patients in a network of correctional facilities. In 55 sessions over a year, 27 surgical procedures were recommended. Preoperative physical assessment and informed consent were conducted electronically. Surgical follow-up was also provided by telemedicine. Only minor and rare changes were made upon in-person interviews at hospital in a patient encounter regimen fully complying with local and national standards.
