- Abstract
The Skikda region (northeastern Algeria) is a citrus-growing region with a large citrus area. The recovery of the size waste (leaves) can constitute a source of plant material very exploitable as biofungicide by the agricultural sector. The antifungal activity of the essential oils of Mandarin leaves (Citrus reticulata) was evaluated with respect to: Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. albedinis and Alternaria sp. by the direct contact method. Extraction of the essential oil was carried out by hydrodistillation and molecular characterization by GC/MS. The essential oil shows a great inhibitory power of mycelial growth (in vitro). Limonene (32.04 %) and γ-Terpinene (25.52 %) have the most important inhibitory powers. The results obtained pave the way for the use of leaves essential oil of Citrus reticulata as an alternative to chemical fungicides.
