- Abstract
The author reflects on the need for doctors to involve themselves in end-of-life medicine and promote hospice as a model of care and learn to "let it go." He references Atul Gawande's book "Being Mortal" which writes how people can live better with age-related frailty, serious illness and approaching death. He points out that doctors should treat diseases and also concern themselves with people's functional abilities.
