- Authors
SANKAMO, JUHO
- Abstract
The article presents a study concerning the entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, based in the Jewish context of all the Gospels. Particular focus is given to the symbolic meaning of Jesus Christ's entry on a donkey and the message it conveys to the Jews. The dependence of the symbolic meaning of Jesus' entry on the context of Passover and Jerusalem is emphasized. Also noted is the implication of Jesus' entry on a donkey as a sign of peace and humility, at the same time, of power and royalty.
