- Abstract
The article discusses aspects of the diplomacy between the U.S. and China in the 20th century based on a survey of the literature. Topics include the role of the U.S. in the war against Japan and its policy toward Guomindang-Chinese Communist Party (GMD-CCP) relations, the CCP-U.S. cooperation in 1944-1945, author Niu Jun's exploration of the relations between the U.S., the GMD, the CCP and the Soviet Union during the Chinese Civil War from 1945 to 1949, arguing that the CCP leaders failed to prioritize U.S. policy.
