- Abstract
The author reflects on the contributions of author Rachel Carson and her book "Silent Spring" to the field of chemical pollution and environmental toxicology. He states that Carson was the first to describe the adverse impact of pesticides on the environment, and cites some issues raised by the book that are considered as demanding tasks for environmental researchers and chemical regulators. The author also explores the role of "Silent Spring" in initiating the regulation of chemicals.
