ALTERAÇÕES HEMATOLÓGICAS APRESENTADAS POR CÃES PORTADORES DE RANGELIOSE E BABESIOSE ENTRE 2020 E 2023 - ESTUDO RETROSPECTIVO.

- Abstract
A ordem Piroplasmida inclui vários gêneros e espécies que infectam canídeos domésticos e silvestres. São protozoários transmitidos aos mamíferos através de carrapatos infectados. O gênero Babesia se destaca no grupo de piroplasmas que infectam cães. Embora esta espécie seja a mais relatada no Brasil, outras piroplasmoses patologicamente mais agressivas, como a Rangelia vitalii, podem acometer caninos domésticos em diferentes estados das regiões sul e sudeste do país. As semelhanças entre morfologia, parasitismo e sinais clínicos de Babesiose e Rangeliose canina são evidentes. Objetivou-se, através desta pesquisa, comparar alterações hematológicas apresentadas por pacientes naturalmente infectados por Babesia canis (N=21) e Rangelia vitalli (N=32) em amostras testadas através de PCR convencional, armazenadas em um laboratório de patologia clínica no período de 2020 a 2023, a partir da amplificação destas espécies com primers específicos. Foram descartadas coinfecções, como anaplasmose e erliquiose, que pudessem interferir nos parâmetros analisados. Dentre as principais alterações encontradas, destacam-se a trombocitopenia, presente em 100% (N=32) dos casos de rangeliose e 76,2% (n=16) dos pacientes positivos para babesiose; e anemia, evidente em 84,4% (N=27) dos pacientes infectados por R. vitalli e 47,6 % (N=10) dos pacientes acometidos por B. canis. Entre os caninos testados, com idade entre 5 meses e 16 anos, machos em maioria (75%), a trombocitopenia foi a alteração mais evidente, sendo observada de forma mais acentuada nos portadores de rangeliose, com média de plaquetas de 59.000/µL de sangue, enquanto caninos com babesiose apresentaram média de 147.000/µL de sangue. A anemia foi mais acentuada em pacientes com rangeliose, evidenciando hematócrito médio de 26,4%, sendo que, em 6 dos 32 casos foi classificada como macrocítica e hipocrômica, enquanto a babesiose apresentou um valor médio de 34,3%, com apenas 1 dos 21 pacientes demonstrando macrocitose. Ambos os achados corroboram com a literatura, na qual descreve que as alterações hematológicas encontradas na rangeliose, principalmente a anemia e a trombocitopenia, são mais acentuadas que as visualizadas na babesiose, devido a maior agressividade no consumo de plaquetas e a perda sanguínea ocasionadas pelo primeiro agente.
