- Abstract
In this article, we present the results of a study that aimed to understand usability in the context of the visit experience of 10 family groups to the virtual exhibition "Biodiversity: knowing to preserve", at the Museum of Zoology of the University of São Paulo (MZUSP), located in the city of São Paulo. Data collection consisted of recording the virtual visits made by the families, using the free program Flashback Recorder Express, and conducting semi-structured online interviews with these groups. The recordings were codified and analyzed using the quantitative and qualitative analysis program Dedoose and the interviews were transcribed and categorized. The results indicate a high level of satisfaction towards the experience of virtual visit to MZUSP by the participating families, with emphasis on the fact that it is a simulation and immersive experience. On the other hand, the active role of the visitor, inherent to this type of experience, brings challenges to usability themes, regarding the creation of intuitive interfaces for different audiences. Although in general the difficulties around usability were specific, which indicates the ability to overcome them autonomously and intuitively, they were present in 9 of the 10 groups studied, and overcoming them may be less or more challenging, depending on the technological equipment available and the degree of familiarity, both with the practice of visiting museums and with digital technologies.
