- Title
Benefits Denial Based on Unmet Plan Requirements Upheld.
- Abstract
The article discusses a U.S. court case wherein the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Association sued Independence Hospital Indemnity Plan Inc. for underpaying health insurance claims. The group attempted to enforce requirements to compensate health care providers under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). The Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit ruled that health care providers could not sue the insurer under the ERISA because they were not covered by the statute.
