- Abstract
Marzia Milazzo's book, "Colorblind Tools: Global Technologies of Racial Power," offers a paradigm-shifting analysis of anti-Black racism and the ways in which claims of colorblindness perpetuate white supremacy. The book examines global case studies from the colonial era to the present, highlighting the interconnectedness of racial disavowal across diverse geopolitical contexts. Milazzo argues that colorblind ideology relies on a complex "epistemology of denial and disavowal" that perpetuates anti-Blackness and white dominance. The book's interdisciplinary approach and expansive range of sources contribute to its originality and relevance in the field of critical race theory. Milazzo ultimately calls for alternative imaginaries and radical solidarity to dismantle systems of racial oppression.
