The article offers information on the equivalence and relational thinking for multiplication. Topics discussed include fundamental properties of multiplication, need for students to understand numeration, recognizing the effect of an operation on a number, issues related to number facts and estimation of the results of one or more operations to check the reasonableness of a solution.
