- Title
Katholische Perspektiven zum Thema »Reformationsjubiläum«.
- Authors
THÖNISSEN, WOLFGANG
- Abstract
The article discusses the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation from the perspective of the Catholic Church. The author suggests that the goal of the Reformation was to reform the church, not to split it, and that a theological assessment of the Reformation after half a millennium ought therefore to approach the subject from an ecumenical perspective that highlights the unity of the Church. Issues addressed include Catholic interpretations of Reformation theologian Martin Luther, the potential Catholic recognition of the Augsburg Confession, and the idea of church reform in modern Catholic theology.
