- Abstract
The article examines human resource (HR) department's role as an employee rights advocate as essential to become or remain a business partner. It differentiates business partner and employee advocate and explores how the two roles can compliment each other. It argues that HR must be aware that it can balance being a business partner and being an employee advocate and strive to design safe organizational systems.
