- Abstract
This article focuses on a study on the evaluation of clinical and microbiological measures to predict treatment response in severe periodontitis. The study population comprised 33 patients, age 32-58 years with severe generalized periodontitis. At an initial examination, four sites with probing depths of at least 5 mm in each patient were selected and assessed for attachment loss from the cementoenamel junction pocket depth from the gingival margin and bleeding on probing. Two of these sites in each patient were sampled for microbiological studies. Two subgingival plaque samples were collected with a sterile periodontal curet from each of the two sites.
