- Abstract
The aim of this theoretical review is to summarize the scientific findings about transformational leadership and its relationship to organizational outcomes (e.g., climate, performance, etc.), pointing out some future challenges in their study. In a synthetic manner, this article presents the evidence that has been developed during recent years of research and, at the same time, presents the different models used by researchers to present their results and conclusions. A review of these studies concludes that transformational leadership can be considered a forerunner of several worker-related outcomes (e.g., well-being, satisfaction, etc.) as well as organizational outcomes (e.g., performance, tendency to drop, etc.). At the same time, the scarcity of studies about the strategies of transformational leadership training, as well as the techniques used in interventions to facilitate the emergence of this style of leadership, is remarkable. Based on these considerations, we outline potentially fruitful directions for future research.
