- Authors
Hasson, Matt
- Abstract
The article discusses research being done on the risk of advanced age-related macular degeneration (AMD) after cataract surgery in the age-related eye disease. It references a study by Emily Y. Chew and colleagues, published in "Ophthalmology." Chew said that they did not find an increased rate of accelerated progression to advanced AMD after cataract surgery and these patients who are at risk should be followed because they may develop advanced AMD. Four AMD risk categories used in the study are cited.
