- Abstract
The article discusses studies on the role of dietary omega-3 fatty acids in age-related macular degeneration (AMD). A study published in "American Journal of Clinical Nutrition" showed that dietary omega-3 fatty acids can reduce AMD while a study published in "Archives of Ophthalmology" found that diets high in omega-3 fatty acids and fish were inversely associated with AMD risk when linoleic acid intake was low. Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS) found that higher intake of omega-3s and fish resulted to decreased chance of having neovascular AMD.
