- Abstract
This article compares the pathologic features of select agent influenza A virus infections in humans and animal models. Strains of influenza A virus that are classified as select agents are 1918 HINI virus and highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) virus. The etiology of influenza is discussed. The cross-species transmission of HPAI H5NI in carnivores is reviewed.
