- Abstract
The article discusses the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) approach in Canadian sport. It notes that one of the central tenets of the LTAD framework is basic physical literacy and once it is attained, adopting more complex motor skills follows. It discusses internally focused (IF) and externally focused (EF) instructional methods. It emphasizes the need for coaches, athletes, parents and administrators to define and share a common vision of success at the different stages of training.
