- Abstract
The article discusses the history of the U.S. Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) in relation to a split of opinions which have been issued by American circuit courts regarding interpretations of the FDCPA and the adjudication of debtors' disputes as of 2015. American debt collection laws and practices are examined, along with the nation's Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the legal rights of debtors and debt collectors. U.S. bankruptcy laws and notice requirements are also examined.
