- Abstract
The article offers information on life and work of painter Florence Claxton. Topics include information on her caricature of Pre-Raphaelitism, 'The Choice of Paris' An Idyll of 1860, a watercolour painting, in the Victoria and Albert Museum; use of his work to support of the campaign for greater work opportunities for women, a campaign which led to the emerging suffrage movement of the 1860s; and information on her work that offers a counterbalance to prevailing view of male superiority.
