- Abstract
A literary criticism of the 1735 French novel "Les Femmes militaires" by Rustaing de Saint Jory is presented. It comments on the context of utopian literature and examines themes of trade, money, property, political liberty, and happiness. The author reflects on conceptions of morality and examines the novel's depictions of the economic and political difficulties of the French gentry.
