- Title
Singing and Second Language Learning: Part II.
- Authors
Watts, David
- Abstract
The author presents the second part of a series of articles about translating and singing songs in second language. He claims that some songs are not that easy to translate, citing as example his difficulty translating Roger Whittaker's "Un elephant sur mon balcon" into English. The author notes that he finds it easy to translate songs from English into French rather than the reverse, citing reasons such as easy to get a rhyme in French and flexibility in the number of word-end syllables in a line.
