- Abstract
The article discusses the results of several studies conducted in the U.S. regarding the impact of recreational reading on the children's reading ability. A study conducted by the National Reading Panel (NRP) has indicated no evidence of improvement of reading ability through reading practice. The National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) has revealed the decline in the number of people reading books. NRP member Michael Kamil has also cited no effect of recreational reading on student achievement.
