- Abstract
This article discusses the surgical technique of extradural anterior clinoidectomy for the resection of clinoidal meningiomas (CMs). CMs are challenging tumors due to their involvement of neurovascular structures and their growth into the optic canal and cavernous sinus. The article presents a case study of a 45-year-old patient who underwent the procedure, detailing the surgical steps and outcomes. The authors argue that the skull-base approach with clinoidectomy allows for better tumor devascularization, control of neurovascular structures, and oncological control. However, they acknowledge that this approach is technically demanding and has a steep learning curve.
