- Abstract
The article discusses the impacts of the 2012 U.S. JOBS Act, a law to promote start-up businesses during the U.S. economic recession, on the independent film industry. It highlights two provisions of the JOBS Act related to securities that could help capital raising efforts by independent film producers. It also mentions that the JOBS act enables greater equity-based crowdfunding by exempting sale of securities on the Internet from U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) registration.
