A literary criticism of the book "The Wings of the Dove," by Henry James is presented. It provides a background on the characters and explores the symbolic significance of these characters. It examines the author's approach to forwarding an understanding of the possibility of empathy using his characters. It looks at how the interplay between the mind the material world was portrayed in the story. An overview of the story is also given.
