- Title
MARKETS AND THE ENVIRONMENT: A CRITICAL REAPPRAISAL.
- Authors
Smith Jr., Fred L.
- Abstract
The author argues that environmental quality can be better addressed by integrating ecological resources into the economy through ecological privatization. The author claims that the property rights approach to environmental policy may encourage more economists to address the important environmental issues and devise more appropriate solutions. The use of comparative institutional analysis is suggested to determine the appropriate means to protect resources. Policymakers are advised to explore how traditional property rights defenses might be restored.
