- Abstract
Dr Issa Al-Baye Aboubakar is a great poet, a scholar of African poetry of Arabic expression. He began to compose verses from early childhood and remained steadfast until his genius blossomed and his poetry reached the highest level of perfection. His poetry is distinguished by an adequate introduction, the strength of the imagination, the exceptional power of creativity and the unity of the theme developed. He has received many prizes, first and foremost the First Prize for the poetry competition organized in 1991 by King Saud University in Riyadh as part of the activities of the “awareness of the harmful effects of smoking” week. He was awarded a Medal of Honor in 2014 by the Arabic Language Department at Kwara State University. His poems have been published in several scientific journals in Nigeria and the Arab world.This research aims to study the best productions of this great African poet, a gifted and prolific poet, in order to highlight his contribution to the development of Arab literature.His poetry is inspired by classic masterpieces of Arab literature and is characterized by a general lexicon and often specific to its environment (West Africa), the clarity of style, the coherence of ideas, the strength of imagination and lyricism. This poet was strongly influenced by the ideas of his great masters.This work revolves, in addition to the introduction and the conclusion, around two points namely the biography of Dr Issa Al-Baye Aboubakar and the analysis of some of the author's productions. The conclusion presents the main results achieved by the researcher.The descriptive, analytical and historical approach was used in this work. It is actually a comprehensive approach that relies on several explanatory paradigms in order to better define the object of study for a better analysis.
