- Abstract
Following the death of the Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu (1930-1996), Leo Brouwer composed three works for guitar in his memory: Hika (1996), Concerto da Requiem (2005) for guitar and orchestra and El Arpa y la Sombra (2005). ). This last work is made from elements from the first two, reworked to offer a new musical idea. Thus, a new form based on the homonymous title novel (El arpa y la sombra) by Alejo Carpentier (1904-1980), a Cuban writer of great repercussion in South American literature of the twentieth century. This study arises from this context with the aim of conducting a general and musical analysis under the concepts of intertextuality and hypertextuality as compositional processes in the work.
