- Abstract
This article profiles Saul Bellow, a novelist, writer and an artist. It notes that Bellow married many times and consider his wives significant to his art. It relates that his autobiographical fiction reveals more of his life and character than his suffering. He published his novel "Dangling Man" in 1944 and dedicated it to his wife Anita Goshkin. He met his second wife Sondra Tschacbasov in 1952 following her graduation from Bennington College. He considers his third wife, Susan Glassman, as his most difficult and most vindictive wife. His fifth and last wife Janis Freedman was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1959.
