- Abstract
The article reports on the increased margin of credit motivated by the efficiency of labor supply and the distribution of consumer welfare in U.S. The author stresses the systematic improvement on the ability of U.S. households to borrow against future labor income. He emphasizes the events in mortgage markets which show a sharp expansion in credit availability. He notes the effects on the changes in borrowing constraints influence aggregate precautionary savings and size of the economy with flexible labor supply. He further notes the situations, in which the changes can alter the efficiency of labor input and household sensitivity to credit access. The welfare implication of improvement in credit access is also discussed.
