- Abstract
Collaborative mapping or Participatory mapping is a cartographic evolution, even with the map function, where users themselves are the authors of the entered information, content generated by users simple and voluntarily. Thus, this article brings a power analysis of the junction between maps and social groups, making the Collaborative Mapping an intense instrument of complaints and social solutions. Exposes a brief account of the Cartography and Collaborative Maps, bringing definitions and highlighting the cartographic advancement and the junction with the technology throughout history, with emphasis on web maps as a means of social communication and, finally, it discusses the Pici campus of the Federal University of Ceará as a way to illustrate the mapping and environmental and social awareness on campus. It is believed that from the produced maps, campus goers will have knowledge of the geographical area using and inducing expand their environmental knowledge, thus enabling sustainability in this environment.
