- Abstract
The article focuses on a study on selecting marine reserves using habitats and species assemblages as surrogates for biological diversity. Topics discussed include creating species assemblages derived from an intensive three-year study of a temperate marine embayment, and classified into plant, fish, and invertebrate assemblages; poor surrogates of plant assemblages for overall species richness; and cost-effective method for identification of areas to manage marine diversity.
