- Abstract
The article critiques the novel "The Heirs of Colombus," by Gerald Vizenor and the book of poetry "Life Is a Fatal Disease," with particular emphasis on the poem "Malinalli, La Malinche, to Cortes, Conquistador," by Paula Gunn Allen. It addresses the authors' treatment of colonial contact in the Americas, egalitarianism, and indigenous cultural identity.
