What Ever Happened to Space Spin-Off?
- Authors
Culbertson, John
- Abstract
The author explores the notion that U.S. space technology spin-offs will offer private industry and society benefits from government research spending. He feels it is unrealistic in 1968 to expect that the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to think about commercial uses for its technology while trying to attain NASA mission goals. He feels that despite the Space Act of 1958 and the State Technical Services Act of 1965, space technologies are not adaptable for use on Earth. A discussion of communication satellites, also known as COMSATS, is presented.
