- Abstract
Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are an integral part of children's daily lives, however they can cause disturbances in terms of sleep patterns. This scoping review, according to the methodology of the Joanna Briggs Institute, aims to identify the existing scientific evidence on the implications of the use of ICT on children's sleep patterns. Were identified 260 publications, of which 12 articles were analyzed. Studies report that children who use ICT tend to lie down later, needing more time to fall asleep and waking up more often during the night. In this sense, the quality and quantity of sleep can be influenced by the way in which ICT are used. The evidence shows that the implementation of educational interventions, focusing on health literacy, which is a sensitive area for nursing care, can contribute to the promotion of healthy sleep habits related to the use of ICT.
