The discovery, development, and clinical exploitation of antibiotics with new mechanisms of action is a top priority in the battle against untreatable infectious diseases. Peptidomimetics can successfully control infections caused by multidrug-resistant pathogens. This Perspective discusses fi ndings in a recent Science paper on a member of this class of therapeutic agents that targets bacterial outer-membrane synthesis.
