- Abstract
The article reports textile and apparel imports, deficits, and exports for the first quarter of 1984 in comparison to the first quarter of 1983. The article reports that the textile and apparel trade deficit could be 48% higher in 1984 than the record set in 1983. The measurements of textiles and apparels, taken in square yard equivalents (SYE), are mentioned. The comments of American Textile Manufacturers Institute (ATMI) President, James H. Martin Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of Ti-Caro Inc., of Gastonia, North Carolina, in response to the numbers reported, are presented.
