The article discusses the project being carried out by the Hope College student chapter of Engineers Without Borders-USA and the rural community of Nkuv in Cameroon to enhance the drinking water quality through the use of Manz biosand filters. It cites a report by the World Health Organization (WHO) that one of six individuals around the world has limited access to safe drinking water for his basic needs.
