- Abstract
The article profiles French technician, cameraman and projectionist Eugene Augustin Lauste. Lauste worked with Edison in 1888 and with other film pioneers, such as Dickson, the Lathams and the Mutoscope Co., in the U.S., France and Great Britain. He was involved in pioneering experimentations to record sound on film long before the commercial release of sound-capable films "Don Juan" and "The Jazz." He acquired skills related to machines, electricity, recording and transmitting of sound when he worked with Edison. He contributed to the development of cameras and projectors when he worked with the Lathams.
