The article presents information on the origin of the poem "To Isaac Lea" by Edgar Allan Poe written in a letter to the publisher Isaac Lea in 1829. Author Thomas Ollive Mabbott assumed that the poem was Poe's work in his 1969 edition. It has been discovered that Poe has adapted the verses retrieved from poet Samuel Butler's "Hudibras," which was first published in three parts.
