- Abstract
When I met Jimmy on the wards, he had been on the tortuous road of cancer treatment for several months and was now back in our Dhaba with a hoarse voice from recurrent leukemia swelling the lymph nodes in his neck. My great-grand parents were from the Punjab province in India, where they were farmers and truck drivers, growing maize, rice, and sugarcane and shipping them around the country. During his hospital admission, we nourished and treated Jimmy, helping him get back on his cancer therapy and restarting the search for matched bone marrow donors.
