- Abstract
The article offers an overview on two maritime laws, enacted in response to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the U.S. The Maritime Transportation Security Act aims to guard state's ports and waterways by requiring sectors of the maritime industry to enforce certain security measures. The International Ship and Port Facility Security Code of the International Maritime Organization, requires the outfitting of passenger and cargo ships with security alert system.
