Valenzuela, Fátima Victoria
- Abstract
Colored populations, free or slaves, that inhabited the vast territory of Corrientes at the end of the colonial period, is investigated. Parish registers are the sources for the analysis since they give an idea of the relationships between ethnic groups, such as Indigenes, Spanish and hybrids, within the mechanisms of whitening and hybridism. The study area and the demographic composition of the Corrientes society are characterized, whereas the baptism and marriage records narrate the endogamic or interethnic relationships in the above-mentioned space.
