- Abstract
From the contributions of the Cultural History of Religions, in this article we analyze how part of the Portuguese exiles in Brazil in the first half of the twentieth century, mainly, workers, intellectuals and religious developed a cultural mission that contributed to the political and social dialogue between citizens of the two countries. As a highlight to the narrative of this article, we present the discussions about the visit of the Patriarch of Lisbon, Dom Manuel Gonçalves Cerejeira, to Brazil in 1934 and the collaboration network built with politicians, intellectuals and religious in the city of Rio de Janeiro, with the aim to structure international projects of restoration power of the Catholic Church in the nations that approved the process of secularization of their political and civil institutions.
